 If you want to educate yourself as much as I do, then reading a LOT of books is a must. This book, therefore, is a must to make sure you can get through them in a timely and efficient fashion.

 

Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… And Others Don’t

Jim Collins     Review

A tremendous book that lays out a blue print for building a highly successful business.

 

Life Hacker: Third Edition

 Adam Pash & Gina Trapani     Review

All the coolest tricks and tips to make you work smarter, faster and better. Read this if you want to impress your friends!

 

The Economist

 Various Authors

This is not actually a book, but a weekly newspaper (that publishes in magazine form along with various e-reader versions). It has superb coverage and analysis of political, business and finance, science and technology, and other new-worthy events from around the world. A large part of being a Business Guru is identifying where the world is trending and this is THE place to get a read on those trands.

 

Booked Solid

 Michael Port     Review

 A great book on how to create a solid marketing strategy that even a sole proprietor could use to increase their business. If you sell an information product or  service, you need to read this book and follow it!

 

Getting Things Done  

David Allen      Review

No book will do more to get you organized and better able to manage your projects and your work. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to take themselves to the next level, and out perform their peers.

 

Strengths Finder 2.0

 Tom Rath     Review

 A great book on discovering your personal strengths. Recommend that it be used for small company or management team retreats/annual planning days.

Patrick Rhone    Review

An amazing collection of essays about understanding how much is Enough.

 

 Crush It

Gary Vaynerchuk     Review

An inspirational and practical guide to monetizing your passion. A must read for people that don’t understand social media.

 

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World

Michael Hyatt   Review

A fantastic manual on how to build a solid online presence. If your business needs to be online, you need to read this.

 

 So Good They Can’t Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion

Cal Newport  Review

A great book de-bunking why most of what you hear about passion is crap. If your job or business isn’t where you want/think it should be, read this to find out how to fix that.

 

The Way of the Shepherd

Kevin Leman  Review

A fantastic book about what a leader does. If you are a manager struggling to lead, give this a read!

 

Turning Pro

Stephen Pressfield  Review

This book talks about the different mindsets of amateurs versus professionals. Hint, it isn’t what you think.
